Care

Tin items are simple to care for. Stains, finger prints and spots of that sort can be removed

with a soft cloth or a moist chamois leatherDO NOT use harsh cleaning agents. Instead,

use soapy water or a liquid dish detergent. If this does not work to achieve the results you seek,

a special pewter cleaner is available at ARTINA.

If pewter is not cleaned, after time, a natural Patina forms on the surface, and although attractive,

it is undesired by many.  If you would like to preserve the shine over decades, we recommend

caring for your pewter item with the ARTINA cleaning kit.

Take special note of two fundamental points in regards to caring for your pewter item:

     • Pewter is not dishwasher safe

     • DO NOT leave leftover food or drink to dry into your pewter item

This is important to consider because, unlike glass, tin has a porous surface. Therefore clean

your ARTINA pewter item after every use.  Rinse with pure water and dry immediately with a

soft tin cleaning cloth to avoid the build up of water stains.

Because of the low melting point (approx. 230 degrees Celsius), pewter items should never come into contact with open flame.  In addition, pewter items should never be placed onto a hot stove top.  Because pewter is not as hard of a metal as iron, for example, hard contact against other objects should be avoided.
